Steone Stool
Steone Stool is an interactive product aimed to increase feelings of belonging and participation. It is an adaptive stool with 3-pronged joinery that allows various configurations and patterns to be made when duplicates of the stool are present. This interaction lets community members shape the physical space around them while engaging with the artifact and others that are seated nearby. Connecting the stools is a stepping stone to social engagement in hopes that community members will choose to connect their seat to the larger seating arrangement.

Steone Magnet
Steone Magnet is an instructional accessory of Steone stool to help guide users through the possibilities of interaction.
It is a series of magnets showing the stool in a top down profile that doubles as a sensory wall toy. Users pre shape their space with the magnets before arranging the stools in the desired patterns. The magnets left on the board keep a record of community interaction and engagement through the various patterns made by groups or individuals. The magnets also act as a sensory wall toy for children while parents complete tasks.

Project Brief
This project aimed to address themes of communal wellbeing within the neighborhood of a community partner in Ottawa, ON. Exploring wellbeing and social connection on a deeper level led me to design Steone Stool, an interactive stool that, when present in multiples, invites community members to shape their own space and create configurations unique to them. The stool is paired with an instructional magnet in the form of a sensory wall toy to guide users through creating their own patterns.
